December Happy Hour in the Comfort of Your Own Home

Date & Time: Tuesday, December 29th, 7:00-8:30 pm
Leader:  TO BE NAMED
Location:  The "CLOUD"

DIRECTIONS:  The Board of Directors would like you to join a  Zoom "Virtual Happy Hour" on Tuesday, December 29, starting at 7:00pm.  This is a commercial video/audio connection software that is free to use.  We would like to encourage members to talk about the changes that have been necessary because of COVID-19 and express what specific SCWDC activities that members would like to see come back, when national medical authorities say it's safe.

HOW TO JOIN:  send an email to both these email addresses: SCWDC.President.2020.2021@gmail.com and SCWDC@SCWDC.ORG (office) to get the "Meeting ID" link sent to you.

On the day of the event, use this web link to get to Zoom:   https://www.zoom.us/join/

When you write to get your Meeting ID, please include any question you might have, and we can provide an answer by return email or prepare to answer during the session.  MORE INSTRUCTIONS ARE BELOW, "GETTING READY."

EXPLANATION:  SCWDC has been unable to hold indoor Happy Hours or Membership Socials since March...so we've been very limited to fulfill one of our basic purposes, bringing members together.

The Zoom session will be informal - no agenda or speakers, but some officers and leaders will be on-line, able to answer questions or comment about future plans.  Presently, we have about 120 Western skiers for six trips with some openings; about 20 skiers ready to take either the Canaan Valley and Sunday River trips, with room for 20 more; and 30+ trip takers for Club Med Sandpiper May 2-9 with room for more.

SCWDC has a license to use Zoom software for as many 100 participants at a time, so we believe that there will be plenty of room.  We'll "pass the microphone" around so anyone that wants to speak, will have a chance.  You're welcome to participate for a few minutes or for the whole length of the session - probably 90 minutes will be our maximum operating time.

GETTING READY:  For anyone new to Zoom, you should go to the Zoom website at http://www.zoom.us/download  and download the "client" software that enables joining the meeting, and you can do this as soon as you get the link  It's a small free download and is required unless you only want to participate by a telephone call-in.  Zoom maintains a test area at www.Zoom.us/test so you can test your setup in advance. This is highly recommended, we won't be able to give technical help during the session.  If using a PC, tablet/Ipad or "smart" mobile phone, you have an option to participate with video and audio, or just audio.  If using a mobile device, you can download an application from the Apple "App Store" or  "Google Play" website.  Your best experience is going to be with a device with a 9 to 20-inch screen.   Most devices have the capability to show a "Gallery View" meaning 6-40 persons at a time.
