  The Pre & Post Cruise Extensions have limited capacity and often fill up well in advance.  If you sign up now and decide later that you do not want to extend the trip, you can cancel the extension with no penalty any time before final payment.

  Air Schedule

  Viking occasionally changes the air price but it is locked in at the time of booking if you select Viking Air.  Current price is $799 roundtrip in economy.  If there is any difference, you will have the option to cancel.  If you choose Viking Air in registration, you will find your air schedule at your Viking Account and will have a chance to provide Viking with frequent flyer and seat request information after Viking secures flights in roughly June 2024. 

  Viking Air Fare Cancellation Policy: You may cancel the flight reservation until the ticket is issued. (Likely in August 2024).  Once the ticket has been issued, the airline ticket is non-refundable. 

  You also have the options to book your own airfare.

  Registration and Payment

  • Initial payment is $650 per person  Registration is online using our travel agency's registration form.  (Do not register directly at Viking website.)  You should have your cabin selection and a cabin-mate before you register.  If you need a cabin-mate, contact trip leader Ying Prince. 
  • If you have traveled with Viking before or/and have a credit from a past Viking cruise, have your last booking number or sailing date ready before you register. 
  • After you register and pay the initial payment, you will receive a confirmation email from noreply@jotform.com.  If any issues occur during online registration, or you want to make changes to your registration, contact trip leader Ying Prince. 
  • After your cabin is booked, you will receive an instruction to create a Viking account with your booking number.
  • If you book your cabin prior to October 2023, your final payment will be due on or before the end of October 2023.
  • If you book your cabin after October 1, 2023, your final payment will be due by the end of the month after your booking month. 
  • You will pay your final payment directly to Viking in your Viking account.  If you pay Viking by bank draft (ACH), you'll have a 3.3% discount on the amount due.
    
  • $200 discount for past guests returning to Viking within a year.
  • $100 discount for past guests returning to Viking over a year.
  • SCWDC membership is required. Single One-Year Membership (12 months) is only $35.00.

  Trip Insurance

  Trip medical/reparation and trip interruption insurance or cancellation insurance is highly recommended.  While shopping around for a suitable insurance policy, one of the options is to email "Group Trip Protector" at myra@travelprotectors.com or call 703-443-9055 for a quote.  The SCWDC group medical plan insurance can be purchased directly from Group Trip Protector at $52 per person group rate.  Trip cancellation insurance must be purchased within 14 days of putting down first trip deposit if you want to cover pre-existing medical conditions and or if you want the Cancel for Any Reason insurance. If you purchase any type of travel insurance from Group Trip Protector, you will pay GTP directly.  Do not send your premium payment to SCWDC.  

  Passport Required

  You must have a valid U.S. passport to travel on this voyage. Your passport must be valid for 6 months beyond your planned trip dates.

Because Club Med's charter air flight to the Columbus Isle resort departs from Miami at 12:00 noon, it would require a very early flight from DC to arrive in time to connect to Club Med's charter flight (you must first claim your baggage). Our American Airlines flight will depart from Reagan National Airport (DCA) on Friday, November 8, and include a 1-night stay at the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel located a few miles from the airport.

  Overview

  Grand Canyon Motorized River Rafting Tours is one of the most memorable 7 days you will ever experience. This River Expeditions is the outfitter on this 188 mile journey rafting, camping under the stars and hiking the beautiful side canyons along the Colorado River. It is a 7-day motorized trip on two large rafts that provide excitement in the rapids and gorgeous scenery throughout the trip. During the trip, you’ll take several side trips each day to waterfalls, caves, up scenic canyons with hidden waterfalls and ponds, along the gorgeous turquoise Little Colorado River and more.   The tour company Hatch provides a ground cloth, cot, sleeping bag, pillow, chair and two waterproof duffle bags; one large for travel gear and one small day bag. They also set up an outdoor bathroom at each camp site. You’ll sleep on sand bars, so the sound of the river provides a soothing background noise. There is a lot less roughing it than a normal camping trip.

  Participants are expected to be in good physical condition so you can participate in the many adventurous aspect of the trip.
