The Ski Club's Travel Program organizes and oversees weekend and week long trips!
Our next planned Club Med trip will be in April 201 to the Sandpiper Bay resort in Florida.
FRIDAY NIGHT BOWLING
Casual, non-stressful, group bowling for those who wish to participate.
Each week we will send out an email to see who is interested in bowling that Friday, then we will reserve the lanes. That’s right, you will not need to commit to bowl every Friday; only those Fridays you want to.
Email Pete at email@example.com to get on the regular email list.
This event is run every Friday night. You only pay the leader for the lane costs of $11 for three games. You may rent your own bowling shoes if needed.
We have regulars who come every week and some only occasionally. Beginners are welcome. Bowling skill not required.
Because the gym at Jelleff is not available on Federal holidays, there will be NO Ski Club volleyball on:
Monday, January 21, 2019 (Martin Luther King Day)
Monday, February 18, 2019 (President's Day)
Monday, April 15, 2018 (D.C. Holiday, Emancipation Day)
Monday, May 27, 2019 (Memorial Day observed)
Monday, September 2 (Labor Day observed)
Monday, October 14 (Columbus Day)
Monday, November 11, 2018 (Veteran's Day observed)
Good coed, pickup volleyball Monday evenings in upper Georgetown / Glover Park. Advance reservations are not required; just show up. Teams are formed on the spot. Optional beer and pizza (or other items on the menu) after volleyball at Froggy Bottom Pub, 2021 K Street, NW.
We meet almost every Monday evening throughout the year with the exception of Memorial Day and Labor Day. In June, July, and August we play outdoor (sand court) volleyball at the Lincoln Memorial Courts.
We have three nets at Jelleff Community Center, 3265 “S” Street, NW, just a half a block off Wisconsin Avenue. We play Mondays, starting from 6:45 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. $5 for Ski Club members, $8 for non-members. No bills over $20 accepted. There is an ATM on Wisconsin Ave. half a block away.
Parking: Free parking in the lot at Jelleff. Right when we start, a lot of soccer parents are picking up their young players, so the parking lot tends to be full until 7:15 p.m. If you arrive earlier than that, just park on “S” Street away from the parking meters – it’s a two-hour zone. This is a very safe neighborhood.
With Ski Club volleyball, you will typically play more games per evening than in most leagues. We have two levels of play: intermediate and advanced. This is not “picnic volleyball.” We play by the rules. Play on our advanced court is often fierce. They tend to play 5/1 volleyball with a three-person attack on the front line.(See playing advice below.)
Leaders: John Henrehan, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Ira Silvergleit, email@example.com. Questions? Hit us before Monday evening, because we’ll be playing volleyball!
Ability Level / Having Fun?
Can you bump? Can you set? If your answers are “yes”, try our intermediate court. Rusty players are welcome. We''ll give you a few tips to get you going.
