The 2024 SCWDC Sailing Program will be underway out of Belle Haven Marina in Alexandria in April. Our sailing events are skippered by club-certified captains.

We sail on the Potomac River for 2 hours on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Casual sailing, no experience needed.  We meet at Belle Haven Marina, and sail with experienced skippers on 19' Flying Scot sailboats, very stable and easy to sail.  These are excellent opportunities to learn the fundamentals of sailing while having fun.  After sailing, hungry sailors gather at a local restaurant to swap stories, and share good times (costs not included).

The Sailing Program has a long history of teaching new sailors how to sail and to experience the thrill and excitement of operating sailboats, from 19-foot Flying Scots to 40-foot plus yachts. We focus on crew safety while developing our sailing skills, as well as having fun on the water and meeting new people.

The sailing club returned in April 2022 from a very successful week of sailing four yachts in the British Virgin Islands.  Go to the SCWDC Facebook page to see the pictures.

If interested, please register in advance so we know how many boats to reserve.  Scroll down and click on your selected sail.

Reservations are strongly encouraged and the ONLY way to ensure your space. We reserve boats and confirm skippers based on the number of people who have signed up in advance.   Payment MUST be made onsite, in cash or check payable to Belle Haven Marina.

Our Potomac Sailing schedule is shown below.   Detailed registration instructions, map, directions & details are shown for each sailing event.
