TUESDAY SAILING ON THE POTOMAC

Cost: $20 CWDC Members; $25 Guests; check-in at 15 minutes before the sail

Every Tuesday evening, 4-6 PM (times adjust with the season), weather permitting.  Casual sailing, no experience needed.  We sail with experienced skippers on 19' Flying Scot sailboats, very stable and easy to sail.  After sailing, hungry sailors gather at a nearby restaurant to swap stories and share good times (costs not included).

Belle Haven Marina requires that everyone sign its waiver once a season.  You can do that here https://app.cleverwaiver.com/render/templateByRefId/6075cb3b4cc416a51d3747f2. If you forget, you'll need to go into the marina office and sign it before we sail. Please sign the waiver before you sail.

Dress is casual and should be appropriate for the weather.  You may get splashed, so bring a change of clothes, along with a hat, sunglasses, sunblock lotion, and water. If the weather is questionable, call the marina (703-768-0018) an hour before the sail.  The wind can be very different on the river than in the city, so never assume there is not enough wind to sail.  Sometimes we can't make a decision until we get to the marina.  If we can't sail, we will head over to nearby restaurant a bit early. 

Reservations are strongly encouraged and the ONLY way to ensure your space. We reserve boats and confirm skippers based on the number of people who have signed up 3 days in advance.  If you can sail at the last minute, contact the trip leader or come to the marina; we’ll try to accommodate you if we have space.  If you’ve made reservations and can’t make it, please contact the trip leader as soon as possible.  Check-in time is at 15 minutes prior to sailing time. Meet near the marina's office.  

Belle Haven Marina is located on the George Washington Parkway about one mile South of Old Town Alexandria and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.  It is NOT the marina by Reagan National Airport.
