2021 Summer Picnic

Sunday, July 25, 2021  3:00 PM to 7:30 PM

We have reached our registration limit of 100, and cannot accept any more registrants.  Please do not show up at the event w/o a registration.

Our annual July party and picnic will be held at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield, Virginia. We will be picnicking at the McLaren-Sargent Shelter.

Enjoy a beautiful summer afternoon and early evening. (If the weather is not so beautiful, come anyway, as we will be under a large covered pavilion).  We will provide water, soft drinks, beer and wine, plus catered BBQ with all the fixin's.  And we will have games, music, and of course, fun.  

This year we will have a nominal fee of $10 (members) to cover the cost "Rain or Shine", no refunds.  Non-members are also welcome to attend for $15.  Registration and payment must be in advance and due by 12 noon on Friday, July 23.  This will allow us to order the correct amount of food, beverages, and supplies.

We will start serving beverages and snacks at 3 PM, and food will be served starting at 4 PM.  We must be cleaned up and out of the park by dark.

Directions to the park:

5660 HEMING AVE. SPRINGFIELD, VA 22151
Definitely use this Heming Ave. entrance and park in the lot at the entrance.
Then a short walk to the McLaren-Sargent Shelter.

From the beltway take Braddock Road East
Turn right on Heming Avenue
Proceed south on Heming Ave. 1.3 miles (under the Beltway) to the Heming Road park entrance on the right just past the housing development.

Coronavirus Safety Measures

We are adhering to all of the state and local guidelines for outdoor gatherings. There will be a walk-in sanitizing station at our entrance table. Sanitizer and paper towels will be available throughout the pavilion.

Bring a lawn  chair. There are picnic tables in the pavilion but you may want to sit out in the sun while socializing.  Don't forget to wear your face mask.
