Resort:

Steamboat Springs is nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, off the beaten path but still within reach. If you’re looking for an authentic mountain town, steeped in adventure, history, and culture yet full of modern amenities, that are as big as the Rockies themselves, check out Off-Piste Activities in Steamboat Springs. Be sure to check out the Old Town Hot Springs (which Skiing magazine labels as the best hot springs at any ski resort). Other possible adventures include horseback riding, sleigh rides, ice skating, powder skiing, and Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Whether you choose Ski Time Square or other well-known dining spots, your apres-ski and dining experience will be as memorable as your on-the-mountain one.

Mountain:
The mountain offers 3,670 vertical feet, 2,965 skiable acres of terrain, 20 lifts, and 354" average annual snowfall.  All levels of skiers/boarders will have fun since the slopes are divided approximately with 20% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 40% advanced. Max elevation here is 10,568 feet—that’s low by Colorado standards, which means no altitude sickness—so there are no bowls above the tree line. Instead, these forested mountainsides include some of the finest glades in the West. Seemingly endless runs such as Closet and Shadows extend the arboreal bliss for nearly 2,000 vertical feet. Hit them when they’re fluffed with Steamboat’s ultra-dry “Champagne” powder, and you understand why this resort has developed a cult-like cadre of devotees.

What's New: Steamboat has undergone a significant transformation over the last several years, and now that the new gondola and the Pioneer Ridge terrain expansion are open, skiers will be able to see the whole vision for this northern Colorado destination resort. Readers are already noticing the upgrades and the positive changes they noticed last winter. “The new Wild Blue Gondola is a great addition, and the new terrain expansion was a blast to ski,” said one. For more information, here's your link: Winter in Steamboat Springs Colorado. Steamboat honors the Ikon Pass; if buying an Ikon Pass product, please read the terms and conditions carefully before purchasing.

LOCAL TIP: "Bloody Mary's" abound, but Thunderhead Red’s (at the top of the gondola) outpaces the pack with a Breakfast Bloody that garnishes house-infused vodka with pickled veggies, hard-boiled egg, and maple-glazed bacon.
