Resort:
In Savoie at the top of the Haute-Tarentaise, snow cover in Val d’Isère is guaranteed, but what’s also important is the ambience of staying in an authentic mountain village. At the center is a fine Baroque church and a cluster of ancient chalets built in traditional style using stone, wood and slate. This gives the resort a welcoming warm atmosphere that borders on the magical. Take a stroll through the village, do a bit of shopping, meet up with your friends, linger over a coffee in one of the numerous enticing cafes and drink in the lively atmosphere.
From November to May it benefits from an exceptional snow cover which gives it the status of "Mecca of skiing". Val d'Isere is part of the Espace Killy ski area, shared with Tignes. Some of the world's best skiers leave their tracks here and the resort has hosted Olympic and World Cup downhill competitions, as well as the Alpine Ski World Championships. They are connected by a modern lift system and slopes to form one of the largest ski resorts in France (over three times the size of any North American ski resort).
NOTE: This is an International Trip, a passport is required and must have 6 months remaining until the expiration date. American citizens do not require a Visa to enter France. Citizens of other nations should check with the French Embassy to determine whether they require a Visa or not.

Mountain:
At 1,850m (6,000 feet) Val d’Isère ski resort is among the highest resorts in Europe.
- 1850m is the lowest point and the skiing is all above this altitude, the average height of the ski area is considerably higher than other resorts where the accommodation is above 1800m. Vertical drop is a whopping 6.330 ft.!
- Many slopes are north facing, protecting them from the sun. The Grande Motte and Pissaillas glaciers have great skiing right to the end of the season.
- While benefiting from the same Atlantic depressions as other French resorts, Val d'Isere often receives heavy snowfall from the Mediterranean low pressures which dump their snow on the Italian Alps. Once in a while, a local weather phenomenon known as the "Retour d’Est" results in heavy snow in Val d'Isere while nearby resorts can only read the weather reports in disbelief.
Val d'Isere has one of the best lift systems in the world with over 96 lifts, the vast majority are high speed. They serve over 25,000 skiable acres (compared to Whistler Blackcomb’s 8,000). The variety is equally huge, with 57% of the terrain Beginner/Intermediate.
Val d'Isere is closely interconnected with the neighboring resorts of Tignes and La Daille. Check the below link for everything Val d'Isere!
