SNP Thornton River Natural History Hike

  • 08/13/2016
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Shenandoah National Park

Join Bob Pickett for a moderately easy 5.5 mile hike in the northern district of the Shenandoah National Park. We'll go down Hull School trail and back up the Thornton River trail to our shuttle on the Drive. Included will be a half mile bushwhack to the summer home of the National Park's first employee; Darwin Lambert. Learn about this author's life as well as the former residents of this region as we locate artifacts of their lives.

As always, we'll stop often to lift rocks, listen to birds, and talk about the natural world. Optional dinner at the Country Cafe afterwards.

INFO: Bob Pickett, pickett@us.net, 240/457-0352.

Meet at the Vienna Metro station at 8 AM.
